Today's Demonstration In Medan, Students Urge Jokowi To Review The IKN Law

MEDAN - Students from a number of campuses in the city of Medan rallied in front of the North Sumatra DPRD building, Imam Bonjol Street.

Students came with a number of posters. The demonstration was escorted by dozens of police personnel.

In his oration, students conveyed a number of demands. One of them, demanded President Joko Widodo to postpone and review the Law on the Capital of the Nusantara (IKN).

"We demand and urge Jokowi to postpone and review the IKN Law, including problematic articles. In addition, the impacts are environmental, legal, social, and other," shouted the leader of the action, Riki in his speech, Wednesday, April 13.

In addition, the students also firmly rejected the postponement of the 2024 election or an additional period of presidential leadership. According to students, the discourse is a betrayal of the constitution.

Students also demanded that President Jokowi immediately stabilize prices and the availability of basic commodities. Therefore, the students asked Jokowi to immediately evaluate the relevant ministers.

"We urge the President to thoroughly investigate the mafia that is detrimental to the state. Especially the cooking oil mafia," said Riki.

After giving speeches, the students were received directly by the Chairman of the North Sumatra DPRD, Baskami Ginting. From the command car, Baskami said he supported the student action.

"We are ready to support student action. We will convey this aspiration to the DPR RI so that it can be responded to immediately," said Baskami.

In front of the students, the PDIP politician also said that the 2024 General Election will be held as scheduled.

"Yesterday, Mr. Jokowi inaugurated the KPU and the Central Bawaslu. We hope that the election will be on schedule," he said.
