SUMBAR - The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the West Sumatra Police (West Sumatra) revealed a case of illegal diesel fuel sales (BBM) to companies.

The culprit is a man with the initials RM (35) transporting diesel fuel to be resold by a company in Pesisir Selatan Regency.

The Director of Special Crimes at the West Sumatra Police, Kombes Pol. Adip Rojikan, said the suspect was arrested on Jalan Raya Siguntur, Koto XI Tarusan District, Pesisir Selatan Regency, Saturday, April 9, at around 22.00 WIB.

The fuel is carried in 15 jerry cans measuring 35 liters containing bio-diesel, one baby tank and three drums containing approximately 1,600 liters of bio-diesel, one pump machine unit, one planting pump machine, two empty jerry cans, one hose and one empty baby tanks.

According to the driver's statement, the fuel will be taken to a company in Pesisir Selatan Regency.

He said the modus operandi used by the perpetrators was to buy subsidized fuel using a jerry can at a gas station in Padang City, then transfer it to an industrial diesel oil tanker to be traded.

The arrests began with public information regarding the transportation and buying and selling of government subsidized bio-diesel fuel using an industrial tank car to be taken out of Padang City.

The police carried out an investigation into the industrial tanker car numbered BM 9745 AG. Subsequently, the tanker was stopped on the road where the arrest was made.

This perpetrator is charged with Article 55 of Law Number 22 of 2021 concerning Oil and Gas with a maximum penalty of six years in prison and a maximum fine of IDR 60 billion.
