JAKARTA - The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) is ready to deploy five helicopters to help deal with emergency conditions along the Trans Java toll road during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming flow this year.

Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency, Marshal of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, Henri Alfiandi, on the sidelines of his visit to the Semarang Search and Rescue Office, Monday, April 11, said that this year's Lebaran homecoming is expected to take place on a large scale after two years of being advised not to return home.

"Five helicopters were on standby from East Java, Central Java, Cikampek, to Merak," he said as quoted by Antara.

Overall, he said, 4.029 personnel from the National Search and Rescue Agency are ready to be deployed during the Eid period from April 25 to May 11, 2022.

He said that many personnel will also be supported by additional personnel from other SAR personnel. "There are no Basarnas personnel on leave during Lebaran later," he said.

He added another vulnerability that might occur during Lebaran later is tourist attractions that will be crowded.

"On the second day of Lebaran, people will usually flock to tourist spots," he said.

Therefore, he continued, the potential for emergency conditions in all tourist attractions is also a concern of the National Search and Rescue Agency.

Facing the flow of going home, he appealed to people returning to their hometowns to always be vigilant and careful, and to call contact number 115 if they experience an emergency.
