MUI Allows COVID-19 Vaccination During Ramadan

BANGKA BELITUNG - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province has allowed COVID-19 vaccination during the fasting month of Ramadan 1443 Hijri in order to increase the slowing vaccination achievement in the area.

"Vaccination during Ramadan is allowed, but with the condition that the arm or muscle of the recipient of the vaccine is injected," said Chairman of the MUI for the Province of the Babylon Islands, Dr. Sayadi in Pangkalpinang, Wednesday, April 6.

He supported the Regional leadership coordination forum (Forkopimda) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province in accelerating mass vaccinations during the fasting month of Ramadan this year, in order to increase the community's immunity from the coronavirus.

"Vaccination that is not allowed for people who are fasting is through the mouth and anus because it can break the fast," he said.

He said that although vaccination during the fasting month is allowed, the MUI recommends the local government to carry out the mass vaccination activity at night.

"We recommend that special vaccinations for Muslims can be carried out after Tarawih Prayers, because it is feared that if they are vaccinated during the day and while fasting, of course, the person's body condition is in a weak condition," he said, quoted by Antara.

He urges people who have not been vaccinated to immediately visit these vaccination service posts, so that COVID-19 will soon end on this earth.

"We ask the public to vaccinate against COVID-19, to break the chain of transmission and spread of this corona virus," he said
