Polda Metro Map Some Congestion-Prone Points During Ramadan

JAKARTA - The increase in the number of vehicles causes congestion in Jakarta. The police also mapped several locations prone to traffic jams during Ramadan.

"Congestion points for the month of Ramadan are mainly on protocol roads, commercial areas and urban areas," said Director of Traffic of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Sambodo Purnomo Yogo to reporters, Tuesday, April 5.

Based on the analysis, people's mobility during Ramadan is only at certain hours. However, the number is very high. For now, there is a severe traffic jam on the way home from work. Then, before and some time after breaking the fast.

The increase in the number of vehicles that lead to congestion is due to the no longer implementing the work from home (WFH) scheme. Thus, the mobility of the people also increases

"With the decline in COVID-19, many offices no longer enforce WFH," said Sambodo.

The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya noted an increase in the number of vehicles on the capital's roads. The percentage increase ranges from 10 to 18 percent.

The percentage increase in the number of vehicles is based on data from the past week.

Although traffic jams have occurred everywhere, the police have no plans to reduce or add odd-even locations. Until now, the implementation of the scheme is still at 13 points.

The odd-even scheme is implemented at 13 points in DKI Jakarta, namely Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan MT Haryono, Jalan Panglima Polim, and Jalan Sisingamangaraja.

Then, Jalan Gunung Sahari, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Jalan Fatmawati, Jalan Tomang Raya, Jalan Ahmad Yani, Jalan DI Panjaitan, and Jalan S Parman.

The odd-even scheme is enforced from Monday to Friday, 06.00-10.00 WIB and 16.00-21.00 WIB. While the odd-even rule is not enforced on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays.
