BANTEN – The Banten Police revealed a mafia syndicate of bulk cooking oil which is processed into packaged cooking oil. The perpetrator's mode is to put bulk cooking oil into a plastic bottle and then sell it for packaged cooking oil. So that way, producers have an advantage.

The Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police, Kombes Pol. Shinto Silitonga, explained. The perpetrators pack bulk cooking oil into packages and then give them the LABAN brand, which is sold at a price of IDR 20.000 per one liter. So that people are interested and want to buy, a special promo is given, namely TOTAL brand soap for every purchase of one liter of LABAN oil.

Shinto also explained that the disclosure of the bulk cooking oil mafia was carried out by the Banten Police Ditreskrimsus investigator on Monday, March 28, at around 15.00 p.m. in a warehouse owned by CV. JONGJING PRATAMA in Tirtayasa District, Serang Regency.

"Banten Police succeeded in uncovering the mafia case of bulk cooking oil packaged in plastic with a prize of Total brand laundry soap as a promo. The provision of soap to attract people's buying interest in bulk cooking oil products that have been packaged into one liter bottles with the LABAN brand for IDR 20.000," said Commissioner Shinto based on a written statement, Wednesday, March 30.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Special Criminal Investigations (Dirreskrimsus) of the Banten Police, Commissioner-Police (Kombes Pol.) Dedi Supriadi, explained that the suspect did have a Business Identification Number (NIB) for the wholesale trade of vegetable and animal oil commodities. However, continued Dedi, they repackaged bulk cooking oil as if they were producers or manufacturers of packaged cooking oil without an industrial business permit.

"Bulk cooking oil, which should have been directly distributed to the public, was then repackaged by them (suspects) to increase the selling price, from IDR 14 thousand (according to the provisions of Minister of Trade Regulation No. 11 of 2022 concerning Bulk Migration HET), to IDR 20.000. So there is an economic increase. worth IDR 6.000 per liter of cooking oil," said Dedi Supriadi.

Then, the investigators discovered the fact that the business entity did not have a distribution permit and application for SNI, and even used bulk cooking oil produced by another business entity to be submitted for laboratory testing.

"It is known that the halal logo on the packaging does not have a halal certificate which is actually required. The label on the packaging for the LABAN cooking oil product is written as containing vitamin A, which in fact does not match the packaging label. And the business entity is not part of the economic chain in the circulation of oil. bulk frying, so there is no time and clear distribution channel for further cooking oil," said Dedi Supriadi.

The investigation was carried out by investigators from the Ditreskrimsus Polda Banten against 10 witnesses, both employees and suppliers of cooking oil bottles.

"Increasing the suspect status of AR (28) as Director of CV. JONGJING PRATAMA, who operates the repackaging of bulk cooking oil at the TKP," he said.

Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police Kombea Shinto Silitonga added that the evidence that was successfully confiscated by the Banten Police Ditreskrimsus investigator, in this case, was 1.300 bottles of cooking oil with the LABAN brand, containing a total of 1.300 liters of cooking oil, 100 promotional plastics for bulk cooking oil equipped with detergent brand soap. In total, 530 bales of 1 liter empty bottles, each containing 60 bottles, 3 large plastic yellow bottle caps, 1 unit of L300 Colt Diesel vehicle, No. Pol BE-9405-NO, 1 unit of bulk cooking oil filling machine, 1 unit of press machine, 1 pack of LABAN label sheets, 1 unit of digital scale, 3 units of 5,100 liter toren of Penguin brand and 3 units of pumping machines.

For his actions, AR was charged with Article 107 in conjunction with Article 29 paragraph (1) of Law no. 7 of 2014 concerning Trade with a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison and or a fine of Rp. 50 billion, Article 142 in conjunction with Article 91 paragraph (1) and Article 144 in conjunction with Article 100 paragraph (2) of Law no. 18 of 2012 concerning Food and Article 62 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 8 paragraph (1) letter d Law no. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection.

The number of suspects may grow along with the findings of further legal facts by the Banten Police Ditreskrimsus investigators.
