JAKARTA - Ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Pol Ahmad Luthfi conducted a surprise inspection (sidak) to check the availability of cooking oil to factories, distributors, and retailers in traditional markets in the city of Semarang.

Together with Forkompinda Semarang City and the food task force team, the Regional Police Chief conducted inspections at PT Berkah Emas Sumber Terang (BEST), Indogrosir, and the South Semarang Fur Market, Tuesday, March 29.

At the inspection site, Police Chief and Forkompinda inspected the factory complex and packaged cooking oil.

Meanwhile, at Indogrosir and Bulu Market, the Regional Police Chief checked the stock of goods and directly inspected the availability of cooking oil at the sales stalls.

Based on direct checks and the results of the report from the food task force team, the Regional Police Chief confirmed that so far there were no deviations related to cooking oil.

However, the Central Java Police and relevant stakeholders remain vigilant and actively monitor potential irregularities that may occur in the field.

"Currently, in Central Java, the people's monthly needs are around 36 thousand tons, while the current stock of oil reaches 109 thousand tons. That means the stock for the next three months is sufficient to meet the needs of the community. This data was obtained from 1 producer, 4 large distributors, and 118 distributors in Central Java," said the Police Chief.

The Regional Police Chief added that the Central Java Police food task force team always cooperates with local governments to check the availability of food in all districts and cities.

"The food task force team is collaborating with the Dispperindag, provincial and district governments, always monitoring and checking to avoid congestion at distribution nodes. We will monitor it so that there are no deviations or potential people who want to take advantage of the situation," said Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi.

The Police Chief appealed to the public to use cooking oil properly and to avoid panic buying.

"The public does not need to panic. The availability of cooking oil for the next three months is sufficient," the Regional Police Chief appealed.
