Satpol PP DKI Chases The Emergence Of Sudden Beggars Every Ramadan

JAKARTA - Every month of Ramadan, people with social welfare problems (PMKS) or impromptu beggars often appear in public spaces.

Therefore, ahead of this year's Ramadan, the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP will monitor their appearance. This supervision will be increased more strictly than usual.

If found, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP, Arifin, said that his party would investigate the modus operandi of the beggars to ascertain whether certain parties deliberately mobilized the beggars.

"We, together with other regional officials, carry out outreach to PMKS or beggars. Of course we will not allow it, we will take strict action against them, taking advantage of the actual situation in the month of Ramadan to do good things," Arifin told reporters, Tuesday, March 29.

Although the month of Ramadan is recommended for giving more charity, Arifin emphasized that begging is not justified because it violates regulations and disturbs order.

Therefore, continued Arifin, the Satpol PP will also educate these seasonal beggars not to commit their crimes anymore.

"Begging is not a justified business. Even though there are people who are physically incapable, but if the beggars in quotes become professions, this is not justified. Even though physically, they are able to try outside of begging," said Arifin.

Furthermore, Arifin explained the points that are often the location of begging in Jakarta, namely trade centers or economic centers to places of worship.

"In these places, they gather, hoping for empathy, compassion, our society is a caring society, likes to be kind," he added.
