Gerindra Has No Problem With Formula E's Decline In Revenue Due To Reduced Audience Seats

JAKARTA - Secretary of Commission D for the Development of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the Gerindra faction, Syarif, admitted that he did not have a problem if the income from the implementation of Formula E decreased due to the reduction in the number of spectator seats.

"In my opinion, in a situation like this, it's okay. The target for the stands, the number of spectators, I don't think is in line with the target because there will be shrinkage because the place is not possible," said Syarif when contacted, Monday, March 28.

Syarif believes that the profits from the electric car racing event in the Ancol area are not only obtained from ticket sales. Because, there will be sponsors who participate in financing the implementation.

Not to mention, Formula E will facilitate MSMEs to participate in trade when the race is held on June 4, 2022. However, the involvement of MSMEs is still being discussed with potential sponsors.

"According to the blueprint, it accommodates MSMEs. We'll see when the sponsor arrives. Binding cooperation, the policy must be accommodated by the sponsor," said Syarif.

In addition, with the establishment of a permanent circuit, Jakarta also has the opportunity to hold racing events other than Formula E.

"Then there will be a domino effect. That the circuit is permanent, not only used for Formula E events, it's an opportunity. In Jakarta, there are many automotive calendars, not Formula E alone," he said.

For information, limited land in the Ancol area, North Jakarta, is a factor in the decline in the number of Formula E spectator seats. Previously, the Formula E audience was targeted to reach 50 thousand. Now, the organizers say the minimum audience is 10 thousand seats.

VP Communication Organizing Committee Formula E Jakarta, Iman Syafei explained, the number of 10 thousand spectator seats prepared was still the minimum number. In a sense, the organizers and the organizing committee have set a point at 10 thousand spectators. However, the number of spectator seats prepared can still be more than that.

"There are a number of spectator spots. The area that was approved yesterday is 10 thousand. The rest, this number is still tinkering with. Only, it's definitely above 10 thousand," said Faith.

Based on preliminary estimates, additional audience seats could be embedded in tens of thousands of seats. However, Iman admitted that it was impossible for the placement to reach 50 thousand spectators, as stated at the beginning of the determination of the circuit in Ancol.

"Less than 50 thousand, maybe around 35 thousand to 40 thousand (audiences), it can be. Actually, we haven't decided on the final yet, it's still in discussion. Maybe this week the total capacity will be decided soon," said Iwan.
