China Will Have Fastest MRT

JAKARTA - China will soon have the fastest underground metro or MRT that can travel up to 160 kilometers per hour. The MRT will serve passengers on lines 18 and 22 Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province in southern China, in October.

With the MRT operating on the two lines, from the Free Trade Area in Nansha (NFTZ) to South Guangzhou Station it only takes 25 minutes, Chinese media said, Sunday.

Likewise, from NFTZ to Guangzhou East Station it only takes 30 minutes. The two lines will be extended to Zhongshan, Dongguan and Zhuhai, which borders with Macau.

The MRT made by CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co Ltd is the first subway with a speed of 160 kilometers per hour in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau area.

The train uses the most advanced and innovative technology because it can be operated through a control system based on artificial intelligence (AI) and its maintenance is also based on mahadata and cloud computing, as quoted from the qq.com news page, Sunday, September 27.

The Guangzhou Railways Authority has temporarily ordered 40 of the MRT series to operate on line 18 (NFTZ-Guangzhou South) and line 22 (NFTZ-Guangzhou East).

Several cities in China have operated MRT with a speed of 80-100 kilometers per hour. Beijing is a city in China that has the most MRT lines, namely 20 lines, including the Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) and Daxing International Airport.

However, Beijing City does not yet have MRT with magnetic levitation technology (Maglev), such as in Shanghai and Changsha, Hunan Province in southwest China, which are capable of traveling at speeds above 100 kilometers per hour.
