Haris Azhar's Report On Luhut's 'Gratification Of Intan Jaya's Economic Crimes' Rejected, Polda Metro: Complaints Not LP

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya spoke about the reporting of Haris Azhar and the Civil Society Coalition regarding allegations of economic crimes in Intan Jaya, Papua, which were rejected without a reason.

Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Auliansyah Lubis stated that the report did not fall into the category of a police report, but a complaint.

"The alleged corruption crime is conveyed through a complaint or information report, not in a police report or LP," said Auliansyah in his statement, Thursday, March 24.

Auliansyah said that when referring to the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the complaint is a notification accompanied by a request by a certain party.

Meanwhile, the police report is a right or obligation under the law. The police report must also be followed up.

"It is different from the report (LP) which is submitted by someone because of the rights or obligations under the law to the authorized official who has known or is or is suspected of having a criminal event," he said.

When making a complaint, Haris Azhar has provided an understanding of this matter. Including, handling corruption through three stages, namely public complaints, investigations, and investigations.

"When Haris Azhar reported yesterday, Investigators from the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya gave an understanding to the person concerned," said Auliansyah.

Previously, the Polda Metro Jaya rejected the reporting of Haris Azhar and representatives of the civil society coalition for alleged economic crimes in Intan Jaya, Papua. Haris Azhar reported to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

The rejection of the report was ended after a long debate with the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya.

"After arguing for several hours, the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya finally decided to reject our report," said LBH Jakarta Advocacy Head Nelson Nicodemus Simamora.

Nelson claimed there was no detailed explanation from the police regarding the refusal to report. However, long debates about various things have been carried out.

"The reason is not clear. We have argued earlier about the Criminal Procedure Code regarding the right to declare a criminal report," said Nelson.
