Today's North Maluku Weather News, Expected To Still Be Hit By Heavy Rain

TERNATE - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of the Sultan Baabullah Meteorological Station of Ternate, predicts that most of North Maluku will still be hit by heavy rains, especially in the afternoon and evening.

"The BMKG has conveyed an appeal for the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning for all areas of North Maluku, to anticipate flooding, especially in the riverbank areas to anticipate landslides", said BMKG Class I Weather Forecaster Sultan Baabullah Ternate, Dewi Makhrantika Madiong in Ternate, as reported by Antara, Monday, March 21.

She said the potential for moderate to heavy rain is predicted to occur on March 23 to 25, 2022, especially in the afternoon and evening.

Dewi stated that heavy rains will occur in the North Maluku region because there is a low-pressure center in the Flores sea area and the seeds of tropical cyclones in the south of NTB and shear lines are formed in the Malut region.

Thus, the initial weather conditions were generally sunny and cloudy in the morning, so the potential for moderate to heavy rain will occur in the afternoon and evening with the wind generally blowing from the northwest-east direction with speeds ranging from 5-30 km/per hour.

She stated that early warnings for North Maluku weather had the potential for moderate to heavy rain which could be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in 10 districts/cities in North Maluku.

BMKG for the afternoon until the evening has issued an appeal, especially in the areas of Central Halmahera Regency, North Patani, East Patani, East Halmahera Regency for Maba, South Maba, Central Maba, Maba City, and its surroundings so that it extends to the West Halmahera Regency, Jailolo, Ibu, Sahu, South Jailolo, South Mother, East Sahu, Central Halmahera Regency, Gebe Island, North Weda and Ternate City.

Meanwhile, the Ternate City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) continues to monitor and anticipate the occurrence of floods accompanied by landslides, the impact of high-intensity rain, and strong winds in the last two days.

The Acting Head of the Ternate Regional Disaster Management Agency, Ikhsan Hamzah, stated that his party had prepared a BPBD Rapid Response Team (TRC) to be alerted to bad weather conditions that occurred in the Ternate area in the next three days.

Therefore, the Ternate Regional Disaster Management Agency requested that residents living in riverbank areas and areas with cliffs be aware of the threat of landslides and floods due to high rainfall in the Ternate City area.
