JAKARTA - The Special Crime Investigation Team of the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) is targeting the perpetrators of the cooking oil mafia practice following the scarcity of cooking oil supplies in the market which is detrimental to state finances.
Head of the Legal Information Section of the DKI Jakarta Prosecutor's Office, Ashari Syam, said that the investigation into the alleged cooking oil mafia was carried out based on an Investigation Order signed by the Head of the Jakarta High Court, Reda Manthovani.
According to Ashari, the investigators from the Corruption Court of the DKI Jakarta Prosecutor's Office studied, researched, analyzed or analyzed several data and other information related to the problem of scarcity of cooking oil with qualifications for corruption.
Ashari said that the Jakarta Special Prosecutor's Office of Special Prosecutor's Office suspected that the company with the initials PT AMJ had committed an unlawful act. "This has been done jointly with PT NLT and other PT PDM since last year," said Ashari as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, March 16.
According to Ashari, the method used by the company is by exporting packaged cooking oil through the Tanjung Priok Port which has a direct impact on the country's economy, because it has an impact on the scarcity of cooking oil in Indonesia.
He said that the three companies exported 7,247 packaged cooking oil cartons consisting of 5 liter, 2 liter, 1 liter and 620 milliliters, from July 2021 to January 2022.
Based on the goods export notification document (PEB), there were 2,184 cartons of certain packaged cooking oil exported from 22 July to 1 September 2021.
Next, a total of 5,063 cartons were exported using 32 containers to various countries including Hong Kong from September 6, 2021 to January 3, 2022.
Ashari said the company sold cooking oil to Hong Kong for HK$240-HK$280 with profits reaching three times the value or the purchase price in the country, so there was suspicion of harming the country's economy.
