BNPT Invites All Government Institutions And Elements Of Society To Counter Terrorism

JAKARTA - Deputy I for Prevention, Protection and Deradicalization of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Major General TNI Nisan Setiadi said efforts to combat intolerance, radicalism, and terrorism must be built with joint strength with a pentahelix concept of countermeasures.

Major General TNI Setiadi said all elements, such as the government, community, academics, businessmen, media must work together and collaborate in tackling this problem together.

"The government, in this case, BNPT, as the leading sector in countering terrorism, coordinates ministries and institutions as well as makes policies and implements programs in the context of countering terrorism which is universal," he said in a written statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 16.

According to him, one way for BNPT to build synergies, coordination, and collaboration with various parties, especially local governments in strengthening national insight and national resilience, is through friendship and national dialogue.

This kind of national friendship and dialogue, he said, was important to build collaboration and synergy between various elements in efforts to combat radicalism and terrorism.

"This very valuable meeting is a form of collaboration and synergy between the central and regional governments to strengthen our national insight and national resilience in order to create community deterrence, especially in Pemalang Regency in order to overcome the problems of intolerance, radicalism, and terrorism," said Nisan.

Pemalang Regent Mukti Agung Wibowo said, in tackling terrorism, Pemalang Regency Government made various efforts so that radicalism and terrorism did not spread in society and undermine the integrity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia.

"I know that preventing the development of this heresy is not an easy job because it requires extra patience, thoroughness, accuracy, and wisdom in overcoming this problem because it is directly related to the principles and views that one believes in," he explained.

Mukti invites all stakeholders involved to synergize and work together in the success of efforts to counteract radicalism and terrorism in Indonesia and in Pemalang Regency.
