Al-Muhajer also said ISIL had appointed a successor to the former leader, identified him as Abu al-Hassan al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, and said the head of ISIL had chosen him as the next caliph.
There was no immediate information about the new leader and it was not known if he was Iraqi like his two predecessors, both of whom died in the rebel-held part of Syria.
