In The Midst Of The Issue Of Postponing The Election, Jokowi And Megawati Met Face To Face In Bogor, What To Discuss?

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo and Chair of the Steering Committee of the National Research and Innovation Agency Megawati Soekarnoputri met at an event at the Rumpin Modern Nursery in Bogor, Wednesday, March 10.

According to the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto, the meeting was purely a discussion of the program to protect the homeland. There is no discussion about postponing the 2024 election.

"Both Jokowi and Megawati share the same breath, both of which are subject to the Constitution which regulates elections every five years. This means that the next election will still be held in 2024," said Hasto in an electronic message in Jakarta.

Hasto explained that meetings between Megawati and President Jokowi were held periodically. This time it was held at Rumpin Bogor. Because from the start, Megawati paid great attention to the reforestation movement and how to preserve nature.

“This is also one of the concerns of BRIN where Mrs. Mega is the Chair of the BRIN Steering Committee. Because the meeting was held at Rumpin, what was discussed were matters relating to how to cool Indonesia through the movement to protect the motherland," said Hasto.

With reforestation, it will produce oxygen for life. With trees, it will make the Motherland of Indonesia look refreshing. That's why at the meeting what was discussed was the issue of nursery or plant nursery. It's not about the 2024 election issue.

"Well, regarding the postponement of the election, Mrs. Mega and Mr. Jokowi's attitude is similar, obedient, submissive and obedient to the constitution. So since it's the same, there's no need to talk about it. Nursery is more important for the future of pro-environmental development,” concluded Hasto.

President Jokowi himself is known to mention that this year, more than 30 nurseries such as the Rumpin spread over several areas, will be able to produce around 12 million tree seedlings.

Meanwhile, Megawati herself stated that she hoped that the construction of the nursery would not only benefit the environment. But it can also help boost the economy.

It should be noted that the PDIP chaired by Megawati is the political party that is most concerned, if not the only one in Indonesia, on environmental issues.

Millions of tree seeds were planted by party cadres throughout Indonesia, through the Movement for Loving and Caring for the Earth. PDIP even pioneered the Movement to Plant 10 Companion Plants for Rice to encourage public awareness of environmental and food issues at the same time.
