PANGKALPINANG - Sad news came from the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands following the death of six people from COVID-19. This brings the total number of COVID-19 patients who have died to 1.521.

"Today, the number of patients who died has increased again compared to the previous day," said Secretary of the Babel Islands Province COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Mikron Antariksa in Pangkalpinang, as reported by Antara, Thursday, March 10.

He explained that based on the latest daily COVID-19 case data, as many as six COVID-19 sufferers died spread over in Bangka two, two in West Bangka, one in Pangkalpinang, and one in Belitung.

"With the addition of these six deaths, the death rate for people from the coronavirus has risen to 2.43 percent," he said.

He said cases of people exposed to the corona virus also increased by 550 people, spread in Pangkalpinang 251, Bangka 113, Central Bangka 46, West Bangka 40, Belitung 63, South Bangka 27 and East Belitung 10 people.

Likewise, the number of recovered COVID-19 patients increased by 458 people, spread across 173 Pangkalpinang, 90 West Bangka, 85 Bangka, 45 Central Bangka, 26 South Bangka, 29 Belitung and East Belitung 10 people.

"Currently, the number of deaths from COVID-19 is quite high, wherefrom March 1 to 9 this year, 34 people have died from this coronavirus," he said.

According to him, the high case of death due to COVID-19 is because the patient also suffers from congenital diseases, such as high blood pressure, blood sugar, heart disease, and others.

"We hope that people exposed to COVID-19 who also have congenital diseases do not undergo self-isolation, but are treated in referral hospitals or centralized isolation, in order to get better medical care," he said.
