Palembang City Government Praises Residents For Successfully Reducing The Number Of COVID-19 Cases

JAKARTA - The City Government of Palembang, South Sumatra asked for public support to reduce the number of cases of COVID-19 transmission, which has recently begun to decline.

"For the addition of daily new cases in Palembang in March 2022, there were around 100 people, which experienced a fairly large decrease from the previous month, reaching over 200 people," said Deputy Mayor of Palembang Fitrianti Agustinda, in Palembang, Tuesday, March 8.

The decline in cases of COVID-19 transmission is evidence of public participation in implementing health protocols.

To continue to reduce the number of cases of transmission of the new type of Corona virus, his party continues to expect public support to improve clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) and to be disciplined in implementing health protocols such as always using masks, washing hands, maintaining physical distance, and reducing mobility.

"In the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, PHBS and discipline in implementing health protocols are the main keys to preventing being infected with the disease caused by the virus," he said as quoted by Antara.

He explained, to improve PHBS and discipline the community to implement health protocols to anticipate COVID-19, his party dispatched health workers to residential areas to educate the public.

"Through these efforts, it is hoped that we will be able to break the chain of transmission of CIVID-19, and the pandemic that has disrupted various activities and the economy since the last two years can soon be handled properly and become endemic," said Fitrianti Agustinda.

While previously the Head of Communicable Disease Prevention and Control at the Palembang Health Office, Yudhi Setiawan, explained that the trend for the addition of new cases in this city was decreasing.

For confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Palembang, there were 12,109 people and 4,885 people who had recovered and 62 people who died.

Although the trend of new cases of COVID-19 in Sriwijaya is declining, the public is asked not to relax the prokes that have been implemented well so far, he also said.
