KSP Calls IKN Authority To Operate Effectively After Derivative Rules Of The IKN Law Are Issued

JAKARTA - The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) said that after the issuance of a derivative regulation of Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the State Capital (IKN), the IKN Authority would immediately operate.

The derivative regulations that become the operational legal umbrella for the IKN Authority are the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) on the IKN Authority and the Presidential Decree (Keppres) on the Appointment of the Head of the IKN Authority.

"It is very possible," said KSP Main Expert Wandy Tuturoong in a press release in Jakarta, Tuesday.

He said the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) would work on the physical construction of IKN under the coordination of the head of the IKN Authority who would be appointed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

For that, continued Wandy, the head of the IKN Authority must have experience in building physical infrastructure on a large scale in government and private organizations.

According to Wandy, the head of the IKN Authority who will be elected must be able to coordinate various stakeholders such as ministries/agencies and local governments to move and build IKN.

"Because IKN development cannot be separated from the surrounding area in an integrated spatial plan," he said.

Wandy said President Jokowi would choose a head of the IKN Authority who has good skills in delivering public communications.

"The ability to communicate with various parties, including the local community and experts is a consideration for President Joko Widodo in selecting the candidate for the head of the IKN Authority," said Wandy.

Meanwhile, if referring to Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning IKN, the President of the Republic of Indonesia appoints and appoints the Head and Deputy Head of the IKN Authority no later than two months after the Law is promulgated on February 15, 2022, or that means until April 15, 2022.

Previously, President Jokowi on February 22 2022 confirmed that he would immediately appoint the head of the IKN Authority. The President said the candidate for the head of the IKN Authority was a figure from a non-political party.
