Lampung Police Investigate Clashes Between Residents And PT HIM Security Guard

BANDARLAMPUNG - The Lampung Police will thoroughly investigate the causes of clashes between residents and PT Huma Indah Mekar (HIM) security guards in Tulangbawang Barat, Lampung, a few days ago.

"We are investigating clashes between residents and PT HIM security officers. The legal process is being carried out at the Tulangbawang Barat Police," said Lampung Police Chief Inspector General Hendro Sugiatno at Bandarampung as quoted by Antara, Monday, March 7.

He continued that in these clashes, all would be processed professionally by officers. In this case, those who commit criminal acts will be dealt with firmly.

"The ranks continue to map vulnerabilities and anticipate early on disturbances to security and public order (Kamtibmas), including what happened in West Tulangbawang," he said.

The Kapolda added that Sitkamtibmas that must be anticipated early include criminal disturbances, demonstrations, and other vulnerabilities.

Although the situation for Kamtibmas is still relatively conducive, it is necessary to anticipate activities that have the potential to become a disturbance to the Kamtibmas if not managed properly.

"I ask the ranks to move quickly in efforts to mitigate natural disasters and continue to map potential vulnerabilities and prepare security plans and anticipatory steps," he said.

It is also emphasized that the police are present quickly in every security issue in the community. Members are also present to help people who are also victims of natural disasters. When a disaster occurs, all personnel on duty are ready and know their duties, he said.

The clashes were triggered because previously the West Tulangbawang Police arrested one Indigenous resident of Bandardewa Descendants based on reports of the destruction of a rubber tree belonging to PT Huma Indah Mekar (HIM) on 7 February 2022.

The West Tulangbawang Police itself is asking for information regarding the felling of the tree from a resident who has been secured.

However, with the security of one resident, clashes occurred between residents and PT HIM security guards on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at around 15.00 WIB.

During the clashes, several people were injured, including one policeman from throwing stones at the entrance to the PT HIM plantation, a security guard from PT HIM, and one local resident.
