GROBOGAN - The joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team that searched for two victims who drowned in the Serang River, Geyer District, Grobogan Regency, Central Java, while searching for fish, finally found both of them dead.
According to the Emergency Head of Regional Disaster Management Agency of Grobogan Regency, Masrikan, the two fish seekers who were found dead named Pujiyono (44) residents of Sendangharjo Village and Welli Wondo Nugroho (28) from Cekel Village both from Karangrayung District, Grobogan Regency.
The chronology of the incident, he said, began when the two victims and two other friends were looking for fish in the Serang River in Rambat Village by shooting on Sunday, March 6 when the water current was still small because the Kedung Ombo door had not been opened.
At around 13.30 WIB, Pujiyono's rifle was released and carried away by the swift current of water after the floodgate in Kedung Ombo was opened, so the victim tried to chase the rifle.
Knowing his friend drowned and asked for help, Welli, who happened to be not far from the victim, tried to help. However, because the current was very strong and in the whirlpool area, the two victims drowned and could not be seen.
"Two friends of the victim who saw their friend drowned tried to ask local residents for help," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, March 7.
