Returning From Saudi Arabia, Luhut: Crown Prince Wants To Meet Jokowi To Discuss Cooperation Opportunities

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, met with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Prince, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, to explore investment opportunities. The meeting took place when Luhut made a working visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on March 1-2 yesterday.

During this visit, Luhut also met with Saudi Arabian Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih and several CEOs of Saudi Arabian companies. The aim is to discuss investment opportunities in Indonesia.

Among them are investment opportunities in the construction of the new National Capital (IKN), new and renewable energy, the environmental sector, and other issues of common interest.

Luhut said his visit to Saudi Arabia could run smoothly. In fact, Luhut continued, Prince Mohammed bin Salman showed a good response regarding investment opportunities in Indonesia.

As a commitment to exploring investment opportunities in Indonesia, Crown Prince has also said that he will make a return visit to Indonesia. This is also a continuation of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

"The Crown Prince conveyed his plan to visit Indonesia and meet directly with President Joko Widodo, so I think this is a very good form of commitment from him to further discuss various opportunities for cooperation. In addition, the Crown Prince also said that if Indonesia progresses, Arab Saudi Arabia must also come forward", said Luhut.

Indonesia and Saudi Arabia are said to have the same concern regarding the issue of climate change that is currently being faced by all countries in the world. As is known, the Government of Saudi Arabia has issued initiatives to reduce carbon emissions over the next few decades and is also intensively investing in green energy.

This commitment is also in line with Indonesia as a country that has special attention on the issue of climate change and has a target to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060.

"This is also a manifestation of Indonesia's attitude that is open to investment opportunities from any country, as long as it brings great benefits to our nation. Hopefully, this opportunity will be a good step for cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in various fields going forward", concluded Luhut.
