JAKARTA – The role of the TNI and Polri during the Covid-19 pandemic is very vital. These two state institutions do not only play a role according to their main functions. However, it also encourages efforts to recover the national economy and handle the pandemic in the country.
"We should be grateful to the TNI and Polri, because in addition to carrying out state duties, they also assist the implementation of the government's economic policies," said Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party's Political, Legal and Security (Polhukam) DPP, Adies Kadir, Thursday, March 3.
Adies gave an example that throughout 2021 the distribution of economic assistance to the community could be carried out successfully and on target thanks to the alertness of the TNI and Polri. In fact, the success rate for the distribution of the aid reached 99 percent.
"This is also proof that the TNI-Polri are able to work professionally in their involvement in dealing with the pandemic for the past two years. In addition to maintaining state sovereignty and security, these two institutions can also be relied on in national economic recovery," said a member of the Golkar Party faction in the DPR RI.
In order to take advantage of this year's economic growth momentum, the Government has again decided to continue to encourage various national economic recovery programs. One of them is in the social protection sector through Cash Assistance for PKL, Warung, and Fishermen (BT-PKLWN).
The government, as stated by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, in the Police Leadership Meeting, Wednesday (2/3/2022) also again decided that the 2022 BT-PKLWN program would be redistributed with the assistance of the TNI-Polri. This time the target of the TNI-Polri is expected to be able to assist government programs in handling extreme poverty in 212 districts/cities.
"I am sure that with their territorial capabilities and human resources with high discipline, the TNI and Polri will be able to carry out the tasks assigned by the government well," said Adies, who is also Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI.
This year, in addition to assisting the distribution of aid and economic recovery programs for Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto, the TNI-Polri also play a role in the success of the G20 Presidency agenda in the country. Support from the Indonesian National Police is very much needed to support the smooth running of the G20 from the beginning to the peak event which will be held in November in Bali.
"During the G20 Presidency, we will need extra tight security considering that many world leaders will be present, so the role of the TNI and Polri is very vital because they are needed to ensure the safety and comfort of state guests," said Adies.
