KUDUS - Kudus Regency Satpol PP, Central Java, still confiscated 10 kilowatt hour (kwh) meters from 10 karaoke cafe businesses in violation of Regional Regulation No. 10/2015 regarding the prohibition on opening karaoke entertainment venues.

"Previously there were 12 units of kwh meters which were the result of confiscation from 12 karaoke businesses who had been repeatedly reminded that their business violated Regional Regulation No. 10/2015," said Head of Enforcement of Regional Regulations for Satpol PP Kudus Kusnaeni quoted by Antara, Wednesday, March 2.

Of the 12 units of kwh meters, he said, two of them had been taken by the owner because previously there was a statement from the owner of the building that was rented to be used as a karaoke business.

In the statement, the owner of the building stated that it had been converted and promised not to rent it out to other parties to be used as a karaoke cafe business place.

The two parties who proposed taking the kwh meter were the owner of the building previously rented for QN and Quin's karaoke business.

Based on the results of field checks, he said, the two places had indeed been vacated and there was no more equipment normally used for karaoke, so the kwh meter was given to re-install the PLN electricity network.

One of the managers of a karaoke business, namely Quin, was brought to court for a minor crime, while the result of the decision of the Kudus District Court on February 19, 2022, sentenced him to a fine of Rp. 1 million and asked to return his karaoke equipment to its owner.

"The application for re-installation of the kwh meter was submitted by the owner of the building used as the Aneka Ria Karaoke Cafe business premises. As long as they meet the requirements and are willing to make a statement, of course they will be fulfilled," he said.

Even though there is a karaoke cafe business place that has changed its function, the Kudus Satpol PP continues to operate because previously there were still karaoke places that operated secretly.

Based on Regional Regulation number 10/2015 concerning the Entertainment Business of Discotheques, Night Clubs, Pubs, and Karaoke Entertainment Arrangements, it is clear that karaoke entertainment places are prohibited.

In Chapter II, article 2, it is explained that individuals or entities are prohibited from conducting entertainment business activities in discotheques, nightclubs, pubs, and karaoke businesses in the Kudus area. Meanwhile, the threat of violating the provisions of Article 2 is punishable by a maximum imprisonment of three months or a maximum fine of Rp. 50 million.
