Ahok Mourns the Death of DKI Regional Secretary Saefullah due to COVID-19

JAKARTA - Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) mourned the death of DKI Jakarta Secretary, Saefullah. He passed away while undergoing treatment at the Gatot Subroto Central Army Hospital (RSPAD) due to COVID-19.

Ahok received this news from his relatives. However, he didn't mention who provided the information.

"Yes, we have been informed. My condolences," said Ahok, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 16.

It adds to the long list of people who have died of COVID-19. Thus, he asked all people to comply with health protocols.

"Stay healthy," said Ahok.

Saefullah's cause of death, COVID-19, was confirmed by the Head of the DKI Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD), Chaidir. 

"Yes, it is true (Saefullah passed away)," said Chaidir, Wednesday, September 16.

Chaidir stated that Saefullah died this afternoon at 13.05 WIB at the Gatot Subroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD), Central Jakarta. Saefullah passed away in a critical state.

"He died at 13:05 at the Gatot Subroto Hospital," he said.

Some times before, Saefullah was reportedly being treated on an incentive basis at the Gatot Subroto Central Army Hospital (RSPAD), Central Jakarta. He was treated after testing positive for COVID-19.

In his written statement, DKI Governor, Anies Baswedan, asked people to pray for Saefullah's recovery.

"I invite all ranks and families to pray for our brothers, Mr. Sekda, Mr. Saeful, who is currently in intensive care against COVID-19," said Anies.

Anies said Saefullah was facing a difficult trial. He also asked his staff to give Saefullah strength in undergoing the treatment process.

"May Allah make it easy. Allah will hasten the healing. Allah will lift the illness. The recovery will be hastened, and Mr. Secretary will soon be able to reunite with his family and with all of us," said Anies.

During his treatment, Saefullah's position was replaced by DKI Jakarta Regional Economic and Financial Assistant, Sri Haryati, as the Daily Executive of the DKI Regional Secretary.
