Ridwan Kamil: Daily COVID-19 Cases In West Java Drop

BANDUNG - West Java Governor, M Ridwan Kamil, said the daily cases of COVID-19 in the West Java region currently fell to 3,000 cases per day from previously reaching tens of thousands of cases per day.

"Alhamdulillah, after days, we have dropped the number one ranking. Finally yesterday it was in the 3,000 or so from tens of thousands", said Ridwan Kamil in Bandung City, quoted by Antara on Tuesday, March 1.

According to Ridwan Kamil, if based on mathematical calculations in mid-March 2022, daily cases of COVID-19 will experience a drastic decline in the West Java region.

"Our feeling is in the middle of March 2022, if we do mathematical calculations, our downward trend will be very good, so what is important is the same, residents entrust the progress", he said.

In addition, Ridwan Kamil continued, his party has also carried out monitoring at several regional public hospitals, the daily cases of COVID-19 are also under control.

The bed occupancy rate (BOR) for COVID-19 patients in hospitals is only 30 percent.

"Then we monitor the hospital, it's still under control. It's around 30 percent", said Ridwan Kamil.

Previously, the city of Bandung became the largest contributor to COVID-19 cases in West Java in the period 21-27 February 2022.

Usually, since the Omicron variant emerged in early February 2022, the highest position has always been occupied by areas in the Bodebek (Bogor-Bekasi-Depok) area.

Based on data from the West Java COVID-19 Information and Coordination Center, in the period 21-27 February 2022, the city of Bandung experienced an addition of 12,092 cases, and the total active cases on February 28 in the city of Bandung reached 21,550.

In the same period, Bekasi City experienced an increase of 11,447 cases, Depok City 7,731 cases, Bogor Regency increased 6,887 cases, Bekasi Regency 5,269 cases, and Bandung Regency increased 4,833 cases in that week.

However, during this period, the increase in the death rate was not concentrated in urban areas.

The addition of the largest death cases was Karawang with 31 cases in a week, then Garut Regency added 14 deaths, Indramayu Regency with 14 deaths, Kuningan Regency with nine cases, and Majalengka Regency with seven cases.

The Daily Chair of the West Java COVID-19 Task Force, Dewi Sartika, said that the West Java Provincial Government also continued to carry out tracking with the PCR swab test as an effort to prevent the wider spread of the pandemic.

"Our current total sample has reached 4,004,033 or more than 4 million, with more than 27 percent positive results, more than 72 percent negative results", said Dewi Sartika.

While those using the RDT test or total antigen reached 5,894,872 samples, with negative results 94.53 percent and positive 5.47 percent.

"So, both using PCR and rapid antigen testing, thank God, the positive percentage is much smaller", said Dewi.
