President Jokowi Appreciates The Acceleration Of COVID-19 Vaccination In Palu City

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appreciates the awareness of the people of Palu City and the efforts of the local government in accelerating the COVID-19 vaccination in Central Sulawesi.

"We should be grateful that the enthusiasm of the people to get vaccines is very good compared to other provinces and cities", said Jokowi during a visit to vaccinate children and the elderly at the Sis Al-Jufrie Airport complex in Palu, Friday, February 25.

Not only that, but President Jokowi also said the hospital occupancy rate was lower when compared to hospitals in other areas.

"This is also something we should be grateful for and we hope everyone is healthy", said President Jokowi.

Meanwhile, Palu Mayor, Hadianto Rasyid, added that the Palu City government continued to make efforts to accelerate COVID-19 vaccinations.

"Today, there are 1,100 residents who came to get the first, second, and third stages of vaccine", said Hadianto.

"Our president continues to encourage the acceleration of vaccination in all areas, including in Palu City", he added.

Hadianto explained that the occupancy of hospitals in Palu City was still below 30 percent of the available beds or BOR prepared.

In addition, the recovery rate for COVID-19 in Palu City is also high at 90 percent. "Our recovery rate is fast and the President continues to monitor the development of each region, including Palu City", he said.

According to Hadianto, Jokowi's appreciation for the people of Palu City for the awareness of the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine is expected to be a motivation for the city government to increase efforts to accelerate vaccination.

"Hopefully the government's efforts in accelerating this vaccination can run smoothly as expected", he explained.

Currently, the city government has implemented community activity restrictions (PPKM) based on clusters. This means that if the spread of COVID-19 occurs in schools, a cluster PPKM will be carried out for 10 days.

"Three days before the term ends, schools are required to do an antigen swab to ensure that children are ready before starting PTM", explained Hadianto.
