PDIP Party Calls Anies Sacrificing Green Areas For Formula E Ambition, Why?

JAKARTA - Member of the PDIP Party faction of the DKI Regional Representative Council (DPRD), Gilbert Simanjuntak stated that DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan sacrificed green areas for his ambition to organize Formula E.

This statement is based on the installation of bamboo on the bottom layer of the circuit construction material in the Ancol area, North Jakarta. This bamboo is obtained from Jakarta, Lampung, to Palembang.

In fact, according to Gilbert, Anies often predicts that Formula E is an environmentally friendly event, considering that Formula E racing cars are electric.

"Formula E is not a green race like the Governor and the committee boast. They instead sacrifice green areas for their political interests, because Formula E is thicker for the governor's political interests by sacrificing people's money," Gilbert said when contacted, Thursday, February 24.

Not only at this time, Gilbert also mentioned the felling of hundreds of trees at the National Monument (Monas) by the DKI Provincial Government in early 2020. At that time, Anies was still planning to hold Formula E at Monas, before it was finally banned by the central government.

"After clearing Monas, now using wood and bamboo for Formula E which is said to be green racing. This is a public deception that must be a serious note for Anies' political ambitions," he said.

Previously, the person in charge of Formula E construction from PT Jaya Konstruksi, Ari Wibowo admitted that his party had installed pieces of bamboo under the surface of the soft ground in the construction of the Formula E race track.

"This bamboo is for a kind of raft. Why was bamboo chosen, because it is resistant to water and can be broken or flattened," Ari told reporters.

Ari admitted that his party did not use factory materials because there was not enough time to procure them in the midst of a fairly tight construction.

"It's a matter of time for us if we make factory ones such as long concrete. Manufacturing only takes time. So, we have to look for ready stock in large quantities," he said.

It is known, as of February 23, the progress of the construction of the Formula E circuit has now reached 28.5 percent. The circuit has been under construction since February 3, 2022 and is targeted to be completed on March 28, 2022. The source of the funds for this project is from PT Jakarta Propertindo's company money of around IDR 50 billion.

The shape of the Formula E track is said to be similar to a lumping horse. Then, the location of the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit has 18 bends, 600 meters of straight track, clockwise direction, and 2.4 kilometers of track length.
