BATAM - The Cyber Crawling Team together with the Batam Customs Tracking Dog Team found marijuana type narcotics with a gross weight of 765 grams which were smuggled in two food cans from Aceh to Batam, Riau Islands.

Head of the Batam Customs Information Service Section, Undani, stated that the discovery originated from information that there would be incoming packages from Aceh to Batam containing narcotics, psychotropics and precursors.

"Following up on this information, the Tracking Dog Team tracked the shipments that entered Batam from Medan and Aceh at the courier service 'drop point' located at the Batam Center," Undani said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 23.

During tracking, the K-9 Dog showed a response to a package originating from Aceh. After an in-depth examination, it was found that brownish green dried leaves were hidden in two biscuit tins.

Along with the two cans of biscuits containing narcotics, the officers also secured several packages of food and packaged coffee which were allegedly used to disguise the smell.

"After an examination using a narcotics test kit, it was found that the dried leaves were suspected of being marijuana/cannabis sativa/marijuana," he said.

His party then issued a Proof of Enforcement and coordinated with the Batam Barelang Police for the handling and further development process.

He reminded that narcotics smuggling can be charged with Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics Article 114 paragraph (2) and/or Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) with the threat of death penalty/life imprisonment, or at the most. a short period of 6 years and a maximum of 20 years, as well as a maximum fine of Rp. 10 billion.
