Once Critical, KPK Investigators Died Due To COVID-19

JAKARTA - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator named Police Commissioner Pandu Hendra Sasmita died. After previously he was infected with COVID-19 and underwent treatment at Kramat Jati Hospital.

Acting KPK spokesman Ali Fikri said, after undergoing treatment, Pandu was declared cured of COVID-19. However, Kompol Pandu's health condition deteriorated again until he finally breathed his last.

"The KPK is deeply saddened by the death of one of its best investigators on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 15.03 WIB on behalf of Kompol Pandu Hendra Sasmita, SIK who died due to illness," he said, in a written statement received by VOI, Sunday, September 13.

Ali hopes that the family of the deceased will be given courage. "Hopefully all his good deeds will be accepted by Allah SWT and the families left behind will be given patience," he said.

Meanwhile, based on the results of the swab test in the KPK environment, there were 69 people who were confirmed positive for COVID-19. As many as 31 patients recovered and 38 patients underwent independent isolation.

The swab test in the anti-graft institution was conducted on 1,901 people from 7 to 11 September 2020

"In order to keep trying to stop the spread of COVID-19, today the KPK is spraying disinfectants again in three locations, namely the KPK Kuningan C1 Building, the K4 Red and White KPK Building and the Guntur Pomdam Jaya Detention Center," he said.

The KPK also appealed to all employees and related parties within the KPK to continue to comply with established health protocols. Like wearing a mask, keeping your distance and always washing your hands regularly.

Ali said, the settlement of cases by the KPK must continue to be carried out in the current pandemic situation. Even if you have to deal with a situation that is full of risks of contracting COVID-19. This is because according to the provisions of the law there is a time limit.

"So of course it will still be resolved immediately but with strict health protocols, both for witnesses and suspects being examined as well as KPK investigators," he said.
