Village Treasurer In Cirebon Becomes Hundreds Of Millions Of Corruption Suspects

CIREBON - Cirebon City Police, West Java Regional Police, named Citemu Village treasurer, Nurhayati, as a suspect in village fund corruption.

"The determination of Nurhayati as a suspect is also by the rule of law. Based on the instructions given by the public prosecutor", said Cirebon City Police Chief, AKBP Fahri Siregar, quoted by Antara on Saturday, February 19.

Fahri said that the suspect was named the treasurer of Citemu Village, Mundu District, Cirebon Regency, after his party completed several case files for the village fund corruption case by the Citemu Village Head, Supriyadi. After all, it was rejected by the Public Prosecutor, because it was incomplete.

According to him, Supriyadi is suspected of corruption in village funds of IDR 818 million, which was carried out from 2018 to 2020.

Fahri continued that after being rejected, his party re-examined the case, and then referred to the treasurer of Citemu Village, Nurhayati after she was named a suspect after fulfilling the evidence.

"Mrs. Nurhayati was examined in-depth, whether the act (with disbursing funds) was against the law or not. And from the results of the investigation that Nurhayati was involved in enriching Supriadi (so he was named a suspect)", he said.

Fahri admitted that his party had not found any evidence related to the flow of village funds into Nurhayati's personal pocket, but his party confirmed that the determination of Nurhayati's suspect was by the rule of law.

Because Fahri said the act of the treasurer who handed over the village fund directly to the village head could be categorized as against the law.

"Although at this time we have not found Nurhayati enjoying her money", he said.

Fahri said Nurhayati was subject to Article 66 of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 20 of 2018 which regulates the management of financial transactions causing state losses.

"So the person concerned can be subject to Articles 2 and 3 of Law No. 31 1999 in conjunction with Law No. 20 of 2001", he said.
