Probolinggo Police Chief Clarifies The Video Of The Village Head Election Which Is Allegedly Ricuh

PROBOLINGGO - Probolinggo Police Chief AKBP Teuku Arsya Gaddafi clarified that there was a viral video regarding the election of village heads (pilkades) which was allegedly chaotic in Curahsawo Village, Probolinggo Regency, East Java.

A video circulated on social media with framing of chaos which coincided with the implementation of the village head election in Curahsawo Village, Gending District on Thursday, February 17. Seen in the video, a man runs to one side and is chased by several people who try to intervene during the pilkades.

"I emphasize that there was no physical collision at all during the Pilkades in Probolinggo," he said at a press conference held at the Probolinggo Police Headquarters, quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 18.

According to him, the man had the initials H and was the husband of one of the candidates for the village head and he came to the polling station (TPS) to see how the vote counting took place after the voting was over.

When the voting was over, he continued, it turned out that the opposing supporters said words about his wife that offended H, so the person concerned did not accept it and ran over to the party who said those words to clarify the intentions of the opposing party who said those words.

"H was chased by his own supporters to intervene. When this happened, there were residents who took videos of the incident and it eventually spread on social media," he said.

He explained that the security forces on duty were quick to provide security, even the supporters on each side intervened together, so that the vote count in the Pilkades Curahsawo was completed and accepted by each village head candidate.

"I explained regarding the simultaneous 2022 village head elections in Probolinggo Regency on Thursday (17/2) there were 1,537 polling stations and there were no incidents that caused the village elections at the polling stations to not take place," he said.

Regarding the dissatisfaction of one party, he continued, the Probolinggo Police together with Forkopimda had made various efforts, including the raising of peaceful village head elections, so they also invited those who were dissatisfied and had evidence to file a complaint with the Administrative Court.

Teuku Arsya regretted that there were parties who spread hoax content after the village head election was over, thus moving the community to ask for clarification and his party said that the simultaneous Pikades in Probolinggo Regency took place safely and in an orderly manner and there were no incidents that caused physical clashes.

"For village head candidates who lose, don't be too sad and those who win don't be euphoric. Keep the unity and integrity. The real victory belongs to the community," he added.
