The Gayo Custom Hall Will Exhibit The Remains Of The Linge Kingdom

BANDA ACEH - The Gayo Traditional Council said it would hold an exhibition of historical heirlooms from the Linge kingdom in commemoration of the 445th anniversary of Takengon City this year.

The chairman of the Gayo Customary Council, Tagore Abubakar, said that the activity was scheduled to take place on 19-26 February 2022 at the Takengon Sports Hall (GOS).

"This activity aims to lay the basis for the recognition that the Gayo tribe has inhabited this ancestral land for thousands of years," said Tagore Abubakar in Takengon, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 15.

He explained that the basis refers to archaeological findings in the Mendale Basin, even through DNA testing, radiocarbon testing, that the Gayo tribe has existed for thousands of years.

In addition to the exhibition of historical objects, there will also be a Guel Dance Festival and a Gayo Hymn Song Festival as well as a Gayo art performance competition with a total prize of IDR 50 million.

The committee also held seminars on Gayo customs and culture as well as performances of various Gayo traditional and art attractions.

"Gayo is a traditional territory, saving Gayo customs and culture is important to promote, so that the younger generation will not forget their identity and mother tongue," said Tagore.

"The committee has also invited Gayo cognate to attend to give delegates to participate in this activity," he said.
