Megawati Says PDIP And NU Always Go Together: Therefore All National Threats Can Be Overcome

JAKARTA - Chairperson of the PDI-P DPP Megawati Soekarnoputri said her party and Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) had always been closely related and went hand in hand.

"The relationship between the PDI-P and Nahdlatul Ulama is very close and always goes hand in hand," Megawati said in her remarks at the 96th NU Anniversary which was held by PDIP in a hybrid manner, in Jakarta, Saturday.

Megawati also remembered how close her father, who was also the proclaimer and first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Sukarno, with KH Hasyim Asyari and KH Abdul Wahab Hasbullah, as well as with many kiai, founders, and other NU movers.

"And I, will never forget, always remember, Bung Karno was given a title by Nahdlatul Ulama, namely Walliyul Amri Addharuri Bi As Syaukah, a title which was a great support for Nahdliyin residents for his leadership which was ratified at the Nahdlatul Ulama Congress in Surabaya in 1954. Until now the title has never been revoked," Megawati said in a press release, quoted from Antara, Saturday, February 12.

Bung Karno's close relationship with the kiai and Nahdliyin residents will continue in action and I have mandated all nationalists, as well as PDI-P cadres and sympathizers.

This made the fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia feel confident, if the PDI-P continues to be together and in tandem with NU, it will be able to overcome the nation's threats.

"Because I firmly believe, if the PDI-P can continue to run hand in hand with Nahdlatul Ulama, then all threats to our nationality can certainly be overcome. This of course can also create extraordinary good things, now and of course in the future. , said Megawati.

"Once again, I wish you a happy birthday Nahdlatul Ulama. Continue to spread Ahlus Sunnah Waljama'ah, and Islam that is Rahmatan Lil Alamin, and strengthen national commitment," he added.

In this event, the PBNU General Chairperson, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, and the Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas participated in this event.
