Deputy Governor Uu Ruzhanu: Of The 55 Thousand Companies In West Java, Only 50 Accept Persons With Disabilities

BANDUNG - Deputy Governor (Vice Governor) of West Java (Jabar) Uu Ruzhanu said, out of about 55,000 companies registered in West Java, only 0.1 percent or 50 companies are committed to empowering workers with disabilities.

"So there are 50 companies that have accepted people with disabilities, but in West Java there are 55,000 companies. We in the regional government to the sub-district have to accept up to two percent of people with disabilities," said Uu Ruzhanul Ulum in Bandung as reported by Antara, Friday, February 11.

His party is trying to increase the number of companies that accept persons with disabilities. In Law Number 8 of 2016 concerning Persons with Disabilities in the fourth section concerning Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Cooperatives, it is stated that the Government, Regional Governments, State-Owned Enterprises, and Regional-Owned Enterprises, are required to employ at least two percent of persons with disabilities of the total number of persons with disabilities. employee or worker.

Meanwhile, private companies are required to employ at least one percent of Persons with Disabilities from the total number of employees or workers.

He said the West Java Provincial Government on this occasion appreciated the companies that were consistently committed to carrying out the mandate of the law.

As well as giving awards to three companies in West Java, namely those that employ workers with disabilities, namely PT Feng Tay Indonesia Enterprises (Bandung Regency), PT Chang Shin Reksa Jaya (Garut), and PT Chang Shin Indonesia (Karawang) in commemoration of the National OHS Month. West Java Provincial Level in 2022 which will be held in Bandung Regency,

His party will continue to encourage companies and government agencies to employ persons with disabilities. It is hoped that this appreciation can be a motivation for companies or other government agencies.

"Like a company that gets an award, it has implemented the mandate of the law on disability. One percent of its total employees are people with disabilities," said Deputy Governor Uu.

Meanwhile, Head of the West Java Manpower and Transmigration Office, Rachmat Taufik Garsadi, said that the awarding was one of the peak series of commemoration of the National Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Month at the West Java Province.

"We also handed over blood-added tablets and excited to drink blood-added tablets. Then dialogue with people with disabilities, with employees about the structure of the pay scale, and a review of the implementation of K3 norms in the company," he said.

To note, the National OSH month is celebrated every year from January 12 to February 12.

The series of activities for the national OHS month at the West Java provincial level in 2022 include strategic activities, promotive activities, and implementative activities.

This momentum aims to increase awareness and compliance of all parties in fulfilling OSH norms, ensure the implementation of OSH protection in every activity in all business sectors, and increase the participation of all parties in realizing the implementation of OSH culture in every inclusive and sustainable economic development activity.
