BANDUNG - The Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the West Java (Jabar) Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) stated that two people have been prepared to become candidates for deputy mayor of Bandung.

West Java PKS DPW chairman Haru Suandharu said the two names had received approval from the PKS Central Executive Board (DPP). Even so, he could not mention the two names.

"There are already two names, but I can't publish them. The DPP (PKS) asked for that," said Haru, in Bandung, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 9.

West Java PKS previously stated that there were four candidates who were said to be filling the vacant position of deputy mayor of Bandung. Of the four candidates, Haru said that two people had been chosen as candidates.

The four candidates previously proposed were the Chairman of the Bandung City DPRD Tedy Rusmawan, the Chairman of the Bandung City PKS DPD Khairullah, the DPR member Ledia Hanifa, and the West Java DPRD member and wife of the late 2018-2023 Mayor of Bandung Oded M Danial, Siti Muntamah.

The filling of PKS cadres for the position of deputy mayor was announced due to a vacancy after Yana Mulyana filled the position of Acting Mayor of Bandung after the death of Oded M Danial, who died in December 2021.

The late Oded was previously a PKS cadre in pairs with Yana, a cadre of the Gerindra Party. The pair won the 2018 Bandung Mayor and Deputy Mayor Elections.

According to Haru, the two names have been communicated with Yana Mulyana and also DPC Gerindra. Later, he said, Yana would see the figures of the two names.

"You can agree on two (names) or one or you can take the previous 4 or you can take a new name. We have a meeting with the DPP, basically we have monitored it," he said.
