Quarantine Mandatory Rules Have Been Cut To 5 Days, These Are The Latest Rules For Overseas Travel To Enter Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Task Force for Handling COVID-19 issued Circular Letter (SE) Number 4 of 2022 concerning Health Protocols for Overseas Travel during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

This SE is the latest regulation that regulates incoming travel to Indonesia. This SE was determined as of February 1, 2022, by the Chair of the COVID-19 Task Force, Suharyanto.

What is different from before is that travelers who enter Indonesia, both Indonesian citizens and foreigners, are required to quarantine for 5 days. The duration of this quarantine has been cut from the previous 7 days.

Here are the complete rules for overseas travel:

- Overseas travelers (PPLN) for Indonesian citizens are allowed to enter Indonesia, while PPLN for foreigners are limited unless they meet the criteria. The criteria are having a migration residence permit, travel corridor arrangement, and having special considerations from the ministry/institution.

- Obligations of all PPLN

a. Indonesian citizens are required to show a card or certificate (physical or digital) having received a full dose of COVID-19 vaccine as a requirement to enter Indonesia, and in the event that Indonesian citizens have not received the vaccine abroad, they will be vaccinated at a quarantine place upon arrival in Indonesia after the second RT-PCR examination is carried out with negative results;

b. Foreigners are required to show a card or certificate (physical or digital) having received a full dose of COVID-19 vaccine as a requirement to enter Indonesia;

c. In the event that the foreigner has not received the vaccine abroad, it will be vaccinated at the quarantine place upon arrival in Indonesia after the second RT-POCR examination with a negative result is carried out.

d. Upon arrival, RT-PCR retests are carried out for foreign travelers and are required to undergo centralized quarantine with the following conditions:

1. Quarantine for 7 x 24 hours for foreign travelers who have received the first dose of vaccine; or

2. Quarantine for 5 x 24 hours for foreign travelers who have received the full dose of vaccine.

e. Quarantine obligations are carried out with the following provisions:

1. For Indonesian citizens, namely Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI); students/students who have completed their studies abroad; government employees returning from overseas official trips; or representatives of Indonesia in international competitions or festivals undergoing centralized quarantine at the expense of the government.

2. For Indonesian citizens outside the criteria to undergo quarantine in a centralized quarantine accommodation at their own expense; and For foreigners who are foreign diplomats other than the head of the foreign representative and the family of the head of the foreign representative, they are quarantined in a centralized quarantine accommodation at their own expense.

f. In the event that the results of the RT-PCR re-examination upon arrival show positive results, foreign travelers who show positive results without symptoms or experience mild symptoms, are isolated or treated in isolation hotels or centralized isolation facilities determined by the government at all costs to be borne by the individual. foreigners or borne by the government for Indonesian citizens; or for overseas travelers who show positive results with moderate or severe symptoms, and/or with uncontrolled comorbidities, they are isolated or treated at a COVID-19 referral hospital with the entire cost being borne independently for foreigners or borne by the government for Indonesian citizens.

g. For Indonesian citizens and foreigners, a second RT-PCR test is carried out with the following conditions:

1. On the 6th day of quarantine for foreign travelers who quarantine with a duration of 7 x 24 hours;

2. or On the 4th day of quarantine for foreign travelers who quarantine with a duration of 5 x 24 hours.

h. In the event that the RT-PCR retest as referred to in letter j shows a negative result, Indonesian citizens and foreigners are allowed to continue their journey and are recommended to self-quarantine for 14 days and apply health protocols.
