COVID-19 Increases Again, The House of Representatives Again Implements 50 Percent Meeting Attendance To The Ban On Work Activities

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has again tightened health protocols within the parliament after it was found that a number of members and employees were confirmed positive for COVID-19.

To anticipate widespread transmission, the leadership and the secretary-general of the DPR evaluate the regulations that apply during the pandemic. Namely, re-implementing some work from home or work from home and work from the office or work from office for all levels of the General Secretariat's employees.

The Secretary-General of the DPR RI, Indra Iskandar, said that the implementation of parliamentary meetings would also implement a hybrid system with a maximum physical presence of 50 percent. This policy will be decided at a meeting of the Deliberative Body (Bamus).

"We will also control the meeting later from partners and from the internal elements of the DPR a maximum of 50 percent. This will also be confirmed at the Bamus meeting which in the near future will be confirmed as a decision," said Indra when contacted by reporters, Wednesday, February 2.

In addition, the leadership of the DPR prohibits members of the council from making temporary working visits (kunker). This prohibition is also still awaiting the decision of the Bamus meeting. However, said Indra, subordinates of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, have implemented the ban.

"Pak Dasco has warned his commissions that it is temporarily forbidden to conduct work visits. But this is when the entire DPR will be decided at the Bamus," he said.

Meanwhile, for employees within the DPR RI, Indra said, activities that have the potential to cause COVID-19 transmission will also be limited. "Of course, it's the same for employees, at this time we really limit activities," he said.

In addition, Indra added, each board (AKD), commission, and agencies in the DPR RI are adaptive to the implementation of the lockdown to tackle the spread of the Coronavirus. According to him, the important thing is controlling the interaction between members of parliament and employees of the General Secretariat.

"There are several commissions and council equipment that have taken the initiative to lock down in their respective environments, such as in the Constitutional Court, lockdowns, yes. At the leadership, it is the same in several commissions. But of course what is important for us is future control, interaction "The interaction of DPR members outside and from the secretariat general as well," said Indra.
