Pilgrims' Group At 7 Bogor Botanical Gardens Security Guard, Manager Reports Police

The manager of the Bogor Botanical Garden tourist destination, West Java, reported the violence that befell security officers on Sunday, December 15 by unscrupulous groups of pilgrims to the Bogor City Police.

General Manager of Corporate Communication of PT Mitra Natura Raya Zaenal Arifin said his party handed over the legal process of this incident to the police.

"We have reported it. We fully submit it to the applicable legal process," he said in Bogor City, Antara, Thursday, December 17.

He said seven security officers were victims of the violence. The seven security officers were beaten and thrown with iron to guard the gate.

This incident has also gone viral on social media, where in the video circulating, it shows a group of pilgrims beating and throwing goods at security officers at Gate 1 of the Bogor Botanical Gardens, Jalan Ir. H. Juanda.

"We deeply regret this incident. Hopefully this kind of incident will not happen again," he said.

Central Bogor Police Chief AKP Agustinus Manurung said the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at around 16.00 WIB. At that time, a group of pilgrims from Banten came using two buses intending to make a pilgrimage to Mbah Jepra's grave in the Bogor Botanical Gardens.

"When they arrived, they asked for a discount (entrance ticket) and they came when the Botanical Gardens were about to close. The group continued to insist and finally beat about seven security officers," he explained.

Furthermore, said Agustinus, the victim and the Bogor Botanical Gardens reported the incident to the Bogor City Police.
