Strengthening Superior Human Resources At The Border, Defense Minister Prabowo Reviewing The Defense Polytechnic Dr. Benedict Mboi In Atambua

ATAMBUA - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto visited the Campus Defense Polytechnic dr. Benedict Mboi in Belu, East Nusa Tenggara.

This campus is the first polytechnic in Atambua which was built with the aim of strengthening and empowering communities on the borders of the Republic of Indonesia as a superior national defense resource through education.

Defense Minister Prabowo said that this polytechnic should be an example and pride for the entire Indonesian nation because from this campus, future leaders who can make a big contribution to the nation and country like dr. Ben Mboi whose name is used as the name of this campus.

“I believe that this polytechnic can make a very big contribution to the wealth and progress of the country. In addition, it can provide job opportunities for the people of Eastern Indonesia," said Defense Minister Prabowo as quoted from a written statement from the Public Relations Bureau of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defense, Monday, January 31.

As is known, Brigadier General National Armed Forces (TNI) (Ret.) dr. Aloysius Benedictus Mboi, MPH, who is familiarly called Ben Mboi, was a military doctor, civil servant, and Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) from 1978-1988. Ben Mboi plays an important role in the progress of the NTT region and nationally.

Minister of Defense Prabowo also appreciated all parties who have contributed to the establishment of this polytechnic, including the Chancellor of the Indonesian Defense University, all teaching staff, and 175 students of this polytechnic, 120 of whom are sons and daughters from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

“Thank you to the chancellor and all staff who have worked hard to build this polytechnic. Of course, this job is not easy," said Prabowo.

According to Defense Minister Prabowo, this campus was established as a tribute to former East Timorese who were loyal to Indonesia.

“The construction of the polytechnic in Atambua cannot be separated from the incident where Indonesia had to leave East Timor. There are many East Timorese who choose to remain under the red and white flag," Prabowo explained.
