Minister Of Manpower Wants Companies To Operate In Indonesia To Obey 6.5 Percent UMP Increase

Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli reminded companies in Indonesia to comply with the provisions for the national increase in the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) by 6.5 percent.

"This UMP is a regulation. This means that this regulation must be implemented," said Minister of Manpower Yassierli at Andalas University, Padang, West Sumatra, Friday.

According to him, if the government finds a company in Indonesia that does not comply with or implement the provisions of the UMP, then there will be strict rules applied to employers.

"We have a mechanism that is regulated in the law if he (the company) does not implement the regulation," said Minister of Manpower Yassierli.

Therefore, the Minister of Manpower emphasized that the provisions for the amount of wages or salaries for workers announced by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto on Friday (29/11/2024) at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, must be obeyed by all parties, without reducing the rights of workers at all times.

Separately, West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi set the 2025 West Sumatra UMP at IDR 2,994,193.47 or an increase of IDR 182,744.2 when compared to UPM 2024 of IDR 2,811,449.27.

The increase reflects government policies that are tailored to inflation and existing economic growth. This step is also aimed at improving workers' welfare, without ignoring the sustainability of the business world in the Minang realm.

In addition to the UMP, Governor Mahyeldi also set the Provincial Sectoral Minimum Wage (UMSP) worth IDR 3,024,193.47. This refers to the determination of Decree Number 562-841-2024 concerning the sectoral minimum wage of West Sumatra.

Meanwhile, Aad (32), one of the workers in Padang Pariaman Regency, hopes that the company where he works will immediately adjust the new West Sumatra UMP determination, which is IDR 2,994,193.47.

"In addition, I also hope that the company can bear half of the BPJS Health fees. Because, so far everything has been charged to workers," he said.
