Pramono-Rano Transition Team Prepares Free Breakfast Program, Seporsi Rp10 Thousand

JAKARTA - The head of the Pramono-Rano Transition Team, Ima Mahdiah, revealed that his party is preparing a free breakfast program scheme in Jakarta schools which will run after Pramono Anung and Rano Karno are appointed as Governor-Deputy Governor of Jakarta.

So far, Ima, who is also the Deputy Chair of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, admits that she is still reviewing the budget needs that will be taken from the DKI Jakarta Regional Budget to run free breakfast.

"The total budget has not been (defined), only if one person has breakfast of Rp. 10,000 for Jakarta," Ima told reporters, Friday, January 10.

If this program takes place, the DKI Provincial Government will start trials with a number of schools.

Ima admitted that there is a possibility that free breakfast in Jakarta will clash with the free nutritious food program (MBG) which has now been run by the central government.

This is because there are a number of schools whose MBG distribution is carried out in the morning.

"I heard that there are free lunches in the morning, at 8 o'clock. So, let's not clash, we subsidize it all. Later maybe we will talk about the regulations," said Ima.

During the Jakarta gubernatorial election campaign, Pramono Anung said he would run a free breakfast program for students at school if they won the election. This free breakfast will be an additional intake for students in addition to free lunch run by the central government.

"Actually, in the Jakarta APBD funds, there is an allocation. So it's not something too new. It's just that this program will be synergized with a lunch program from the central government. In fact, there are two different things, so we propose for a free breakfast," said Pramono in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, Tuesday, October 29.

Pramono even guaranteed free breakfast at school can be held next year after the inauguration of the Governor-Deputy Governor of Jakarta due to the 2024 Pilkada.

"The funds, the allocation already exists. In fact, if I am inaugurated in 2025, there will be funds. So, this program can definitely run. It's not something that comes from being like that," said Pramono.

Pramono is optimistic that the free breakfast program can run every day, students go to school, similar to eating nutritious food for free. The cost per portion of this free breakfast, according to Pramono, is not much different from President Prabowo Subianto's mainstay program.

"So if I believe it will run, we will change the menu at any time. The important thing is to be healthy. That then there will be a fixed menu, nasi uduk, we will do it," he explained.
