First Trial, Tubagus Joddy Driver Of The Late Vanessa Angel Threatened With 12 Years In Prison

SURABAYA - The driver of the late Vanessa Angel, Tubagus Muhammad Joddy, was charged with multiple articles by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Jombang District Attorney. Tubagus Joddy faces up to 12 years in prison.

Public Prosecutor Adi Prasetyo, when reading the indictment, said Tubagus Joddy was charged with Article 311 paragraph 5 of Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation.

In addition, Tubagus Joddy was also charged with the indictment of Article 311 paragraph 3 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 23 of 2009 concerning road traffic and transportation.

While the alternative or second charges, the first violates article 310 paragraph 4 of the Republic of Indonesia Law number 22 of 2009 concerning road traffic and transportation, and the second violates article 310 paragraph 3 of the Republic of Indonesia Law number 22 of 2009 concerning road traffic and transportation.

Responding to the indictment, Tubagus Joddy did not file an objection or an exception.

"I don't mind, Your Honor," said Tubagus Joddy at the trial at the Surabaya District Court, Thursday, January 27, 2022.

Meanwhile, Joddy's attorney, Eko Wahyudi, said he could not give many statements because he had not received an indictment letter from the prosecutor.

"What is clear is that the defendant has stated that he does not object to the prosecutor's indictment. Then the trial can proceed to the proof stage. As soon as possible I will coordinate with the defendant because I have just been appointed," he said.
