Firli Bahuri Ensures KPK Will Oversee The IKN Development Project

JAKARTA - The head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri confirmed that his institution will participate in overseeing the construction of the new State Capital (IKN) project in East Kalimantan.

This was conveyed by Firli while attending a working meeting with Commission III of the DPR RI today or Wednesday, January 26.

"We also carry out activities related to preparation and preventive measures so that corruption does not occur, in the context of the national capital development program in Kalimantan," Firli said in a meeting held at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta.

Firli said his agency would carry out supervision through the Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring of the KPK. "We are also welcoming the government's program related to the national capital development plan," he said.

This kind of supervision, continued Firli, has often been carried out. In fact, in 2021, 28 studies have been issued by his institution, including studies related to handling COVID-19.

For information, the government has just passed the Law on the State Capital which is the basis for moving the capital city to Kalimantan. The transfer is targeted to start in 2024.
