JAKARTA - Residents of East Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi prefer to use an airplane from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport because of its strategic location and easy access.

“I often depart from Halim. It's closer than home and not too wide, so it's good to go straight to the terminal," said Ani in response to the temporary closure of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport as reported by Antara, Tuesday, January 25.

Halim Perdanakusuma Airport will be temporarily closed starting Wednesday, January 26 until the next 3.5 months for development in the context of revitalization.

Ani, a resident of Bekasi City, said that she was forced to switch to Soekarno-Hatta Airport with a longer distance than Halim Perdanakusuma to travel by airplane.

Ani also hopes that the revitalization of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport will make services to passengers even better in the future.

Another airplane passenger, Grace, also hopes that the revitalization of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport will make the airport even more comfortable.

"It's okay (it's closed) for renovations to be even better because now it's not adequate," said Grace.

The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) announced the revitalization of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta, starting on Wednesday, January 26, so it will be temporarily closed.

"With the start of revitalization, Halim Airport will be temporarily closed starting January 26, 2022. The closing time is estimated to be a maximum of 3.5 months," said Transportation Ministry Spokesperson Adita Irawati in Jakarta.

Adita said the revitalization was carried out as a follow-up to the issuance of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 9 of 2022 regarding the Revitalization of the Indonesian National Army Base Facilities/Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.

Halim Airport revitalization is carried out to improve land and air side facilities, in order to improve aspects of flight safety, security and comfort.

The work to be carried out includes construction on the air and land side, which includes the restoration of runways and taxiways, increasing the capacity of the Naratetama and Naratama aircraft parking aprons, renovation of the Naratetama and Naratama buildings, renovation of operational buildings. , improvement of the drainage system in the airport, and arrangement of other facilities.

Halim Perdanakusuma Airport has been serving scheduled, non-scheduled commercial flights, cargo, military flights, and VVIP.

During the revitalization process, airport operations were temporarily suspended and there were no flights to and from Halim.

Furthermore, flight operations will be relocated to other airports, such as Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Husein Sastranegara Airport, Kertajati Airport, Budiarto Airport, and Pondok Cabe Airport.
