The Dome Of The Mosque Collapses In The Wind And Heavy Rain In Tasikmalaya

TASIKMALAYA - The dome of the Al Istiqomah mosque in Cipicung Village, Tugujaya Village, Cihideung District, Tasikmalaya City, West Java, suddenly collapsed due to strong winds accompanied by heavy rain.

The administrator of DKM Al Istiqomah Agus Nasaromdoni confirmed that the dome of the mosque fell down when it rained with strong winds hitting the area at around 15.00 WIB.

"When it rains, the dome immediately falls," Agus said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 25.

The dome of the mosque fell to the back and hit part of the roof of a resident's house and two motorbikes behind the mosque.

As a result of the incident, he said, there were no fatalities, only damage to houses and motorbikes, including the mosque building, which was estimated to have cost around Rp. 100 million.

"The dome was bought for Rp. 64 million, the loss was estimated at Rp. 100 million," he said.

He conveyed that after the incident the residents worked together to clean up building materials, then repaired the mosque so that it could be reused for worship activities.

The Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Tasikmalaya City, Ucu Anwar, confirmed that quite extreme weather had occurred, namely heavy rain and strong winds that hit Tasikmalaya City.

A number of personnel from the Tasikmalaya City BPBD have moved to the field to deal with areas affected by the extreme weather.

The areas affected by the disaster, he said, had quite a number of points, while the number of officers in the field was limited so they could not collect data in its entirety.

"Our personnel is limited and there are many incidents, we are still dealing with it," he said.
