Police Arrest Methamphetamine Dealers Who Specially Target Tourists In The Thousand Islands

JAKARTA - The Seribu Islands Police Criminal Investigation Unit revealed that five kilograms of crystal methamphetamine confiscated from a dealer would initially be distributed to tourists who want to vacation in the Thousand Islands.

"It is suspected that one of the users wanted to have a party on the island," said Thousand Islands Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Ashari Firmansyah in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 25, quoted from Antara.

The Thousand Islands Police managed to arrest a drug dealer with the initials BP with evidence of five kilograms of methamphetamine. In addition to targeting tourists, the police also suspect that the illicit goods will be circulated in the Thousand Islands region.

"We received information and we revealed that in Kampung Bahari, it is possible that it will also be distributed in the Thousand Islands," he said.

This indication is reinforced by the findings of dozens of small plastic clips and a digital scale. Ashari said the case of the disclosure of five kilograms of crystal methamphetamine would not stop here.

The case will continue to be developed because it is certain that BP has a supplier that must be arrested as soon as possible in order to save the younger generation from the threat of narcotics.

An examination of BP also found that he was a recidivist in a similar case. Previously BP had dealings with the West Jakarta Metro Police for possession of 1.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

Ashari also said that BP had recently breathed free air, but instead of repenting, he was involved again in a network of drug dealers until he was finally arrested by the police on January 20, 2022, at his hiding place in Pandeglang, Banten.

For his actions, investigators have named BP as a suspect and immediately detained him.

The suspected article is Article 114 paragraph 2 subsidiary 112 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph 1 of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics with a minimum criminal penalty of six years and a maximum of 20 years in prison.
