President Jokowi Greets PM Lee In Bintan

BINTAN - President Joko Widodo received a visit from Singapore's Prime Minister (PM) Lee Hsien Loong, at The Sanchaya Resort Bintan, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands.

Based on a written statement from the Presidential Secretariat, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 25, PM Lee was present in Bintan to attend the Indonesia-Singapore Leaders' Retreat.

When he arrived at 11.40 a.m., PM Lee was greeted by the strains of a tambourine. President Jokowi seemed to welcome PM Lee in the lobby of The Sanchaya Resort Bintan, then introduced the ministers who also welcomed, namely Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

Also present were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, and Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly.

Meanwhile, the Singapore delegation was attended by Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, Minister of Defense Ng Eng Hen, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Law K. Shanmugam, Minister of Transport S. Iswaran, and Minister of Energy. Employment and Second Minister of Trade and Industry Tan See Leng.

After talking, PM Lee then signed the guest book, and after that President Jokowi and PM Lee took a group photo.

In a friendly atmosphere, the two walked to the veranda to have a tete-a-tete talk. At this meeting, the two heads of government wore batik, including the delegates who attended.
