Arriving In East Java, 2 Migrant Workers From Malaysia Positive For COVID-19

SURABAYA - Two Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) from East Java tested positive for COVID-19. They are PMIs who have just returned from Malaysia, along with 129 other PMIs on Saturday, January 22.

"The first group of migrant workers, from the results of testing carried out, it is known that two people have been confirmed positive for COVID-19. The two people are currently being treated at the Hajj Hospital," said the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, in Surabaya, Monday, January 24.

In addition to testing, continued Khofifah, her party also ensures that massive tracing continues to be carried out. Especially for this tracing, Khofifah asked all to obey, considering that there were two PMIs who were confirmed positive for COVID-19.

"According to the Ministry of Health's recommendation, close contact tracing is at least 15 for one case, but we are tracing 19 people in East Java for each case," she said.

In anticipation of the spike in cases, Khofifah has now also reactivated Isoters. Therefore, he asked for the cooperation of all health workers (nakes), and volunteers to be ready again to build good synergy.

"The presence of Isoter must be immediately reactivated, health workers and volunteers must also be prepared. And on the 26th, it is planned to come again as many as 164 people, all of us must be ready to quarantine and provide services to migrant workers," she said.

If the quota for PMI quarantined at the Hajj Dormitory is full, said Khofifah, the East Java Provincial Government has two other options, namely in the Ministry of Education and Culture's Government Quality Assurance Institute building and the Ministry of Religion's Education and Training (Kemenag) both in Ketintang.

"If the three places are also full, then PMI will use the hotel that has been provided by the government.

"There are approximately 27 hotels that will be provided for PMI quarantine, while for non-PMI it will be provided in 6 hotels," said Khofifah.
