JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Arteria Dahlan, said that he had no intention of offending or even discrediting the Sundanese. Arteria was previously asked by the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, to apologize about "Kajati speaking in Sundanese, sir."

"There is nothing to do with it, there is no discrediting of the Sundanese. We also want the public to be able to see my 15-minute video, don't cut it into pieces later, tell me what it is," said Arteria Dahlan to reporters, Wednesday, January 19.

Arteria Dahlan emphasized that what he did was actually showing partiality to the holders of strategic positions in the Attorney General's Office.

“What we are doing is actually giving partiality to the owners and holders of strategic positions in the Prosecutor's Office, the Sundanese, which I say are the right choices. What is the evidence, the prosecutor's office is running well. So this is what we are trying to critique. So don't interpret it differently," he explained.

Regarding his statement at a working meeting with the Attorney General's Office on Monday, January 17, Arteria Dahlann had already suspected that there would be a 'backlash'.

"I'm sure there will be many attacks because from my 15 minutes of conversation there were a lot of things that might conflict with the interests of several parties, so this is a gathering of people attacking us like that. If you look closely, don't (offending ethnicity, ed), ask the Attorney General, the prosecutor's office, of course they will say that what I said is true," he said.

"We are not banning regional languages, we are making laws. We don't forbid it, but show it on purpose so that other prosecutors feel 'oh then what Sunda Empire says will be proven', that makes us hot," he continued.

Previously, the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, asked DPR Commission III member Arteria Dahlan to apologize to the Sundanese people. Arteria Dahlan, the PDIP politician, previously asked the Attorney General to fire the Head of the High Prosecutor's Office (Kajati) who spoke in Sundanese during a work meeting.

"I urge Mr. Arteria Dahlan to apologize to the Sundanese people in this archipelago," said Kang Emil, Ridwan Kamil's nickname, at a press conference in Kuta, Badung, Bali, Tuesday, January 18.

"So I regret the statement from Mr. Arteria Dahlan regarding the language problem that has existed for hundreds of years, thousands of years has become the wealth of this archipelago. If you are not comfortable, just put it as simple as that," he said.

"But if the form of asking to be dismissed from his position in my opinion is too excessive, there is no clear basis. I observe this offending many Sundanese people everywhere. But if it is not done it will definitely escalate because Sundanese are actually forgiving people. I hope it is done, " continued Ridwan Kamil.
